The Saint Lucia Council for Technical, Vocational Education & Training (SLCTVET) held its second annual TVET Summer Camp this year, with just over 50 participants.
The camp, geared towards students aged 9-14, was con ducted over five days at The Saint Lucia TVET Institute: School of Sustainable Agriculture & Culinary Arts (formerly the Grande Riviere Secondary School).
Under the leadership of career educator Simona St Phor, the boys and girls, all from the Mabouya Valley and Dennery, received basic instruction in information technology and computer studies, steelpan, singing, nail technology, barbering, and floral arrangement.
At the end of the week, the closing ceremony featured displays of newly acquired skills, especially in the performing arts.
Addressing the graduation exercise, Mr Perry Thomas, executive director of the Saint Lucia TVET Council, explained the importance of the programme, which commenced in 2024 at the Derniere Riviere Combined School.
