In recognition of World Food Day, the Youth Workers of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports hosted the second “Farm to Table” Project on Monday, October 20, 2025.

This initiative supports primary schools in developing and maintaining kitchen gardens that supply fresh fruits and vegetables to their school feeding programs promoting healthier meals, food sustainability, and agricultural awareness among students.

During this activity, youth workers planted avocado, plantain, banana, orange, lime, and tangerine trees at several participating schools.

Among them were the La Ressource Combined, Bexon Infant, Ciceron Combined, Ti Rocher R.C., Forestierre Methodist, and Babonneau Primary School.

These efforts strengthened the project’s mission to promote sustainable agriculture and increase access to nutritious foods within schools.

The project was spearheaded by Youth Worker Kenier Barthelmy-Williams, alongside fellow Youth Workers Shem Hippolyte, Pertaniya Oculie, Emitrude Stephen, and Marcus Girahoo.

Through this initiative, youth workers are inspiring students to appreciate agriculture, make healthier food choices, and contribute to building a more sustainable and health-conscious Saint Lucia.
