Selene hotel project on Vigie Beach promises community partnership

A press release from Selene Hotel Development says the controversial hotel project development at Vigie is “advancing with a clear focus on community partnership, responsible development, and meaningful economic contribution”.
The Selene Autograph Marriott Hotel Project located inland near the George F. L. Charles Airport on lands historically used for hotel development was the subject of a petition questioning its location and impact on residents and the environment.
The press release says, “beyond enhancing the destination’s appeal, the project is expected to generate tangible economic benefits, including employment opportunities during both construction and operations, increased demand for local goods and services, and expanded avenues for small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in the tourism value chain”.
The release notes that “the development team has engaged residents of Vigie through a town hall-style meeting, where concerns and perspectives were openly shared. That feedback continues to inform the project as it evolves, reflecting an ongoing effort to ensure that the development is responsive to the surrounding environment”.
It adds that “Selene is being developed within approved planning guidelines, with careful consideration given to neighbouring properties, the surrounding environment, and the overall character of the area”.
