CTA collaborates with SLTA for islandwide familiarisation tour

Representatives of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority recently enjoyed a firsthand taste of the island’s diversity as a destination. This was made possible through a familiarisation tour facilitated by the Community Tourism Agency.

The CTA’s Chief Executive Officer Dahlia Guard says the tour promoted local businesses which the agency has supported since its inception in 2022.

The tour included members from the local SLTA office, as well as SLTA representatives working across various markets including Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, and the Caribbean. Guided by CTA officers, they explored communities such as Anse la Raye, Soufriere, Vieux Fort, and Dennery.

Guard believes it was an important opportunity to showcase what communities offer across various sectors including accommodation, food and beverage, and tours and experiences.

The Community Tourism Agency was formed with the objective of empowering local communities to leverage the economic opportunities of tourism through a people centered model.

The agency seeks to promote diversification and decentralisation of the tourism industry by supporting sustainable livelihoods and revenue generation islandwide.
