PM promises major infrastructure projects in 2026

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre in his first major address for 2026 reaffirmed that ‘infrastructure remains a cornerstone of our development strategy”.
He noted that in 2026 work will continue on the Control Tower at the Hewanorra International Airport, along with the start of the construction of the HIA Terminal Building.
PM Pierre also promised that the upgrade of the Julian R. Hunte Highway will commence and the expansion and improvement of the Vieux Sucrieux Road will be completed.
He also revealed the rehabilitation of Berth 4 at Port Castries is scheduled to start soon.

Housing developments at Talvern and Rockhall will continue, with the construction of the Vieux Fort Administrative Complex scheduled to start before long.
The PM also promises to enact in 2026 the St. Lucia Unplanned Development Regularisation Authority Bill to facilitate the regularisation of unplanned developments.
Mr. Pierre also pledged to advance plans for the introduction of an unemployment insurance programme.
