Thecla C. Deterville - pioneer in business leadership laid to rest

The founder of the Celestial Self Development Centre Thecla Crescentia Deterville, business leadership consultant was laid to rest Saturday March 21st, 2026.


Leading the tribute was Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre who noted “Her contribution to national development, particularly in advancing human resource standards and strengthening the private sector, has left a lasting impact on our country. Her legacy will continue to inspire generations”.

Mrs. Deterville was a founding member of Saint Lucia’s Association of Management Consultants, a certified management consultant and a distinguished human resource professional with over four decades of experience in leadership training and coaching.


In 2007 she was bestowed with the Businessperson of the Year Award from the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.


Just a few days before her passing Mrs. Deterville was honored by the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, Gender, Older Persons, Labour, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs.


Mrs. Deterville lost her husband to cancer. Hilford Deterville was a former Senate President and prominent lawyer. She was a breast cancer survivor for five years.
