Government extends Tax Amnesty until December 31st, 2027

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has announced that after discussions with the private sector, ‘government has decided to continue with the Tax Amnesty Programme until 31 December 2027’ under specific terms.


Among them:

  1. All interest, penalties and fines up to 31 December 2025 on all categories of taxes will be waived.
  2. A payment schedule must be arranged with the Inland Revenue Department by December 31, 2026, to settle all outstanding taxes. 
  3. The payment schedule agreed upon must settle all outstanding taxes by December 31, 2027.
  4. Penalties, interest and fines will be liable on all taxes due after December 2027.

The following other tax policies will be implemented: 

  1. The filing for companies’ tax returns will be increased from 3 months to not more than 5 months.
  2. The usual quarterly payment schedules will remain.
  3. Decisions on all objections must be settled within 24 months.
  4. The Inland Revenue Department will be urged to be flexible with the taxpayer regarding payment arrangements for outstanding taxes. 

The PM reports that under the current Tax Amnesty programme started in 2022, 13,998 taxpayers have benefited. Approximately, EC$100M has been collected. The benefit to taxpayers was EC$357M in interest and penalty relief.


Further all taxes, interest and penalties due prior to the year 2000 have been written off.
