No determination yet on WASCO request for hike in water rates

Published on February 16, 2026

The National Utilities Regulatory Commission (NURC) reiterates that a final decision has not been made on a request for an increase in water rates .

The NURC says the Tariff proposals must undergo legal assessment, economic analysis and constructive public scrutiny before the NURC can issue a Final Determination, as mandated by law.

The NURC is currently in the public consultation phase of the Triennial Tariff Review. Public feedback is a core legal requirement of the process as it allows you, the public, to be an integral part of the decision-making process.

All stakeholders (consumers, civil and corporate society) are encouraged to attend and actively participate in the consultations, and submit written feedback to info@nurc.org.lc.

Every submission directly informs the Commission’s final decision.

Once the consultation phase is complete and all submissions carefully reviewed, the Commission will publish the Final Determination. The report will outline the approved rates and the full reasoning behind the decision. Until then, a tariff increase has not been confirmed.

In the interim, the Draft Determination Report, which contains the accurate, proposed rates, is available on the NURC website.
