Monroe College is in mourning after the passing of Augustus Small, Dean of Ad ministration at its Saint Lucia campus.

A statement notes that ‘Gus was an integral part of the Monroe University family for 18 years. A proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, he brought to Monroe not only a wealth of experience and discipline, but also a deep and abiding commitment to service, both to his students and to the broader community’.

Gus Small’s role in the creation and growth of our Saint Lucia campus simply cannot be overstated, the statement notes.

Gus was a dedicated professional, a staunch advocate for students, and a beloved colleague. His presence was a steady, guiding force for so many, especially those just beginning their journeys in higher education.

In honor of his legacy, Monroe College will dedicate this year’s Saint Lucia Commencement Ceremony on October 19th to his memory.
