Jamaican wins culinary scholarship from Norway

Jolie-Alexis Brown, a 21-year-old student in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) is the f irst recipient of the Saltfish from Norway Culinary Excellence Scholarship. 

The scholarship, offered by the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) as part of its commitment to supporting local talent and strengthening Jamaica’s long-standing culinary connection with Norway, was formally presented to Jolie during a heartwarming surprise in her class on November 21, 2025.


The UTech Scholarship Department and the NSC’s Jamaican marketing agency, Infinity Integrated Marketing Communications and Events Limited (Infinity IMC), presented her with a symbolic cheque, marking the official handover of the full-tuition award.


This crucial support gives Jolie the financial freedom to focus on her studies and future in the culinary arts.
