Heineken Saint Lucia Ltd joins the St. Lucia Red Cross and the rest of the world in observing World Mental Health Day on October 10th this year, and as part of its 50 Acts of Kindness Calendar.

Staff from Heineken Saint Lucia and the St. Lucia Red Cross took to the Vigie Playing Field to treat some of the differently abled residents on island to a day of fun and relaxation outside.

According to Corporate Affairs Manager at Heineken Saint Lucia, Louise Victor, the main purpose of the event is to help raise awareness and advocacy against the social stigma surrounding mental health in Saint Lucia and rest of the world.

Aside from the usual board games and physical activities, Heineken Saint Lucia decided to include a mini-spa, barber services and a designated area for arts and craft this year to help residents relax and engage their sensory as well as basic motor skills.

According to Secretary of the St. Lucia Red Cross, Misha Delice, the organization was more than happy to support the initiative as the St. Lucia Red Cross has always been a big advocate for mental health.

Heineken Saint Lucia, like last year, also distributed de-stress kits to all residents in attendance. Having a close relative who’s differently abled, one of the returning volunteers from the company, Josh St. Romain, says he participated in many positive initiatives hosted by Heineken but this one is extremely dear to his heart.
