Smooth sailing for Dominica’s yachting sector
Published on March 23, 2026
The Pays Yachting Festival now being hosted in Dominica, continues to bring new waves of opportunity to our shores.
With increasing international visibility each year, Dominica is uniquely placed to attract more yachts, charter operators, and high-value visitors seeking authentic, nature-rich experiences.
Momentum is already clear: between January and December 2025, Dominica recorded 13,461 yacht visitors, an 8% increase over the same period in 2024, an encouraging sign that the destination’s yachting appeal is steadily rising.
At the heart of this opportunity is the marina, which is currently under development. As construction progresses, there is a unique opportunity to ensure the marina is designed to meet international yachting standards. By strengthening infrastructure, expanding capacity, and enhancing services, Dominica can establish itself as a key hub along regional and transatlantic yachting routes.
A modern, well-equipped marina will not only support vessel traffic but also unlock wider economic benefits, fuelling hospitality, technical services, and local entrepreneurship.
The yachting sector is a powerful driver of sustainable tourism. It brings longer stays, repeat visitors, and strong linkages to the local economy. When aligned with established events like the Pays Yachting Festival, it creates a compelling ecosystem that elevates Dominica’s global profile. Source Marva H Williams [LinkedIn]
