Dr. Nikita Greenidge

Saint Lucia Nikita Greenidge has graduated from the University of Leeds with a PhD in Surgical Robotics.

Dr. Greenidge is the Founder of CariSurg and Bridging Technology & Healthcare Access Across the Caribbean. She is also an AI & Medical Robotics Researcher.

Prior to attending the University of Leeds Greenidge said “I had never studied robotics and had no idea what to expect, but it felt right. I loved my job, but I knew I wouldn’t be truly happy unless I was working in medical technology with a focus on the Caribbean”.

She was interested in early detection of gastrointestinal (GI) cancers and how this could significantly improve survival outcomes. Dr. Greenidge was concerned that “In many health systems, especially those constrained by staff shortages or infrastructure, routine endoscopic screening remains inaccessible or inefficient”.

In December 2025 Dr. Greenidge posted on LinkedIn that “I officially graduated with a madras sash to represent Saint Lucia and the wider Caribbean, surrounded by incredible lab mates, mentors, friends, and family. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey, the acknowledgments from my thesis are for you.”
