The Department of Labour, Co-operatives and Consumer Affairs has commenced a comprehensive review of Saint Lucia’s Labour Act, with the aim of modernising the country’s labour legislation and ensuring it remains responsive to the changing world of work.

The Department has engaged A-Z Information JA Limited to provide technical expertise and guide the revision process. Stakeholder consultations have already gotten underway, with virtual engagements held with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA) and civil society.

Former parliamentarians have also been consulted, including former Prime Minister and constitutional law expert Dr. Kenny Anthony.

Further consultations are planned with key stakeholders, including the National Insurance Corporation (NIC), the Medical and Dental Association, Invest Saint Lucia and the Vendors Association.

Members of the public will also have opportunities to provide input as the process progresses.
