The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mr. Donald Wehby, FNIPP, who passed away on July 26, 2025.

A stalwart of Jamaica’s business and public sectors, Mr. Wehby was first admitted to the ICAJ as an Associate Not in Public Practice on March 11, 1993. He was later elevated to Fellow Not in Public Practice in 2003 and became a Lifetime Member in 2016. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the accounting profession and national development, he received the ICAJ’s Distinguished Member Award in December 2015.

Mr. Wehby’s impact extended well beyond the profession. A chartered accountant by training, he joined GraceKennedy in 1995 and rose through the ranks to lead the company as Group Chief Executive Officer.

His service also spanned government and policy, serving as a Government Senator and Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service from 2007 to 2009, and again in the Senate from 2016 until his resignation in 2024.

His exceptional leadership and national service were recognised with the national honours of the Order of Distinction (Commander Class) in 2017 and the Order of Jamaica in 2024. Most recently, he was named the 31st inductee into the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica’s Hall of Fame, with the ceremony slated for October.
