CDB seeking to strengthen the resilience of Choiseul farmers

Published on March 16, 2026

The Caribbean Development Bank has been implementing a programme aimed at boosting the resilience of farmers in Choiseul.

Through the Building Resilience for Adaptation to Climate Change and Climate Variability in Agriculture in Saint Lucia (BRACCCVAS) Project, they recently received handson training to operate modern tillage machinery enhancing their skills in soil preparation, water retention, and nutrient uptake.

Building on this momentum, CDB’s Dr. Nesha Beharry-Borg, PhD, Project Coordinator (Environmental Sustainability Unit), and Mr. Malcolm Wallace, Operations Officer (Social Sector Division), recently met with senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Sustainable Development to review BRACCCVAS progress.

Their discussions with Permanent Secretary Mr. Bradley St. Ange and Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr. Randel Esnard focused on expanding farmers’ access to practical, climatesmart technologies that strengthen local livelihoods.
