Aspiring chefs get a dream start to 2026

Thirteen young trainee chefs from Saint Lucia could not have asked for a better start to 2026 than meeting renowned Chef Eric Vasson.


Vasson was born at La Point Mon Repos but was trained in the United States and Spain and went on to work for five-star hotels, NFL teams like the Jets and Giants.


During the pandemic Chef Vasson started his own business, Island Wheels, in Virginia.

Vasson flew to Saint Lucia early January to reconnect and to share some of his experiences and knowledge with 13 aspiring chefs at the TVET Institute for Sustainable Agriculture and Culinary Arts.

“I definitely see them going far. I think they’re very hungry for knowledge, and a lot of them are taking it seriously, so I definitely see them doing very well in the industry” Chef Vasson concluded after meeting the young chefs.
